Birds and Wildlife

The Philippines offers a huge diversity of environments from cool mountainous areas with pine trees to beaches lined with palm trees, from tropical forests to mangrove swamps and from lagoonal flats to tropical coral reefs. With such diversity it is not surprising that you will encounter a wide range of wildlife, some unique to the Philippines! The Philippines is fast becoming a bird watchers paradise and it's not surprising given the unspoilt nature of many areas. For the animal lover you will also have the opportunity to experience Africa with the Zebra and Giraffes of Calauit Game Preserve and Wildlife Sanctuary in Busuanga, Palawan. You can get to know the Philippine work horse - the Carabao. For those interested in Flora you'll be amazed at the tropical plants, fruits and the beautiful orchids!

Monkeys are common in the jungles.

You can't go to Bohol and not see the famous Tarsier - they are only about 6 inches tall!

In Palawan you'll catch the Monitor Lizard in the Mangroves. 

Don't worry this bat only eats fruit! You'll see loads of bats in teh Philippines.

Butterflies are common, but go to one of the numerous butterfly farms to get up close to the butterflys

There are loads of places to go birdwatching in the Philippines - maybe you'll see something rare!

Crabs are found on the beach, but don't worry there aren't that many!

There are loads of whale and dolphin tours and you are 90% certain to see them. If you travel by ferry you may also spot a pod of dolphins.

The Philippines is the place to go for diving and snorkeling. You'll see fantastic fish, and coral reefs. Maybe even catch a glimpse of a turtle!

The giant clams are particularly fascinating - they really are big!

You'll find coral beaches strewn with coral and tropical shells. Enjoy, but remember you can't take the coral home!

On Calauit Island, Busuanga, Palawan you'll get a taste of Africa. The Zebra and Giraffe look like they are in their natural habitat and are free to move all over the island.
