San Juan Surf Beach                                    (North of San Fernando / La Union)

What is there to see?

San Juan is one of the famed surf spots of the Philippines. The waves are good, but not huge. It's a real chilled-out surf place though!

You don't have to surf though, just enjoy the beach and atmosphere.

You can hire surf boards, kayaks and get surf lessons here!

When you are tired of the beach visit the Ma-Cho Temple in San Fernando.

Of course there are many more things to do here, but most people will chill out on the beach and take in the sunset with a fresh Buko (coconut) juice or cold beer!

Where do I stay?

San Juan Surf Resort is one of the main resorts, but there are a lot of accomodation options here. Accomodation is typically very cheap, but you can get anything from a Dorm to a proper air conditioned hotel room.

How do I get there?

PAL Express does fly from Manila to San Fernando. Flights are not that frequent though. A car journey from Manila can take as little as 5 hours. Most people catch a bus and typically this is a 7 hour journey from Manila. Buses are good, air conditioned and cheap. Just ask around and you will discover your nearest bus station and where to get off.

How long shall I stay?

If you are a surfer then you can stay a long time. If you are a casual tourist then a day or two suffices. This is principally a surf resort. Although other activities exist there are more things to do in other resorts.
